Update from Transition Task Force:

Fall is a time for change…summer camp has ended, counselors have gone home, school has started, fall programming begins. Change is happening at Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp too. Although we are saddened by Brad Abbott’s transition to retirement, we are joyful as well. Brad has done great things over the last 11 years at Sky Ranch. Strong foundations have been established in relationships, infrastructure, and finances that allow the mission and vision of Sky Ranch to continue during this transition period.

At the last Board of Directors meeting, we finalized the transition task force team. We plan to post the job description for the new Executive Director on October 1st with applications due by October 31st. We hope to begin interviews in November and have a new Executive Director fully transitioned before summer programming begins.

As with any change, there is anxiety surrounding the unknown and excitement about what is to come. We are thankful for Brad’s service to Sky Ranch and for his continued support during this transition period. Brad will continue at Sky Ranch through the transition period.

Please feel free to reach out to members of the transition task force with questions.

Update from Sky Ranch Board of Directors:

Brad Abbott has announced his retirement, to be effective once a replacement has been hired and on boarded. Brad has worked in outdoor ministry for 33 years, the last 11 at Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp. During his 11 years at Sky Ranch, Brad oversaw the stabilization of camp’s finances and infrastructure, including a new Shower House and Ruth Lodge; a lodge specifically for the camp’s staff and fall/spring retreats. Just over the last year, he guided the camp through the Covid-19 pandemic, Cameron Peak Fire, various fundraisers, and the reopening of camp.

Brad has agreed to stay on at Sky Ranch during our search for a new Executive Director and as needed during the transition to new leadership. We hope you join us in congratulating him on reaching this important milestone and exciting new chapter in his life!

Upon being informed of Brad’s decision to retire, the Board of Directors established a transition team and timeline for hiring a new Executive Director. We are committed to continuing the ministry of Sky Ranch and look forward to new opportunities for Sky Ranch and our community.
