WHAT IS COYOTE HOWL?
Coyote Howl Confirmation Retreat creates sacred space for confirmation students to build upon a foundation which will travel back with them to their home congregations. Coyote Howl retreats offer community building, Bible study, worship and fellowship with youth from throughout the Rocky Mountain Synod. Alongside our dynamic, energetic and passionate staff, youth will explore the way that God is at work in their individual communities along with how their connection to one another essentially shapes their journey of faith. This
program is designed to support congregational confirmation curriculum with time for congregations built in throughout the weekend.
Coyote Howl weekends fall during the peak season of changing colors. This creates a unique setting for youth to experience their faith away from the distractions that can often distract us from the beauty around us. Each member of your group is a valuable gift. Coyote Howl is a space created to recognize the gifts each person brings; when we allow space for the members of confirmation classes to be
authentically themselves and truly hear their story, the wonders of God’s love and grace can truly be recognized.
LET'S EXPLORE THIS YEAR'S THEME
LOVE IS NOT...
Love is everywhere!
We want to love and be loved. Sometimes it is not as easy to recognize what Love is Not. In 1 Corinthians the author not only reminds us of what love is, but also what it is not; envious, boastful, deceitful, or keeping a record of wrongs. This weekend we will learn about love for one another,
creation, and God and to recognize in how we love one another.
GUESS WHO'S JOINING US. . . PASTOR JAY GAMELIN
This year for Coyote Howl, we will have a guest leader! Pastor Jay Gamelin is graciously stepping in to give our campers and leaders a wonderful retreat while Pastor Bekah is out on maternity leave. We are grateful for his willingness to share his gifts and talents with our community. You won’t want to miss this retreat!

2023 Recap of Coyote Howl Confirmation Retreat
What a wonderful weekend it was as we welcomed nine middle school campers up the mountain for our Coyote Howl retreat. Staff were in solid agreement that the sound of laughter, games, and fun that children bring to this place had surely been missed! We spent time together in community, worshiping, playing, and learning about what it means to be made in the image of God. Made in God’s image, we are creative, unique, loved, and equipped to share God’s love with the world. We talked about the unique gifts that we all bring to the table, and how being in community helps us to see a fuller picture of who God is. Campers challenged themselves as everyone went up on the high ropes course despite our varying comfort levels, and grew in community encouraging one another along the way. They also hopped right in on worship leadership—playing drums, reading verses, and praying! We are so grateful for all those who joined us on the mountain for this awesome experience!
BREAKOUT SESSIONS
Campers will create story boards, go on day hikes, and participate in low ropes team building--creating an interactive space for youth to experience their faith.
BUILD COMMUNITY
Your youth will grow closer with one another and build new friendships with kids from around the Rocky Mountain Synod. Sky Ranch staff facilitate worship, games, breakout sessions, and more.
FAITH FORMATION
Our caring staff will inspire your youth to engage in their faith at camp, while energizing youth to bring their faith home. Coyote Howl engages youth and builds excitement about the upcoming year of confirmation in your congregation.
